2017 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class Official Release Date

The 2017 Mercedes-Benz SL-Cass official release date is taking place in spring of 2016. So far, this is all the information Mercedes-Benz has released about the release of the iconic roadster. Last year, the 2016 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class came out in July, but that was under different circumstances. The 2017 SL-Class looks very similar to the 2016 model, but it has been refreshed both visually and mechanically to provide more customer satisfaction all around.

Visual Changes For 2017 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class

For 2017, the curves on the SL-Class have all been smoothed out for a more aerodynamic design. The flowing lines of the new SL-Class actually make it look bigger, but it rests on the same chassis as the 2016 model. The rear has remained mostly unchanged.

2017 Mercedes-Benz SL450

The SL450 is a new model for the SL-Class. Previously known as the SL400, the SL450 uses the same engine with a 33-horsepower jump from last year. This puts the SL450 at 362 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. Also new for the 2017 SL450 is the 9G-TRONIC 9-speed automatic transmission. This is the same transmission that was released for the first time in the 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLC. This transmission is proving to be one of the best in the industry right now for comfort and efficiency.

2017 Mercedes-AMG SL-Class

As in previous years, the SL-Class lineup will include two AMG variants. The SL63 and the SL65 will both feature hand-crafted engines. In the SL63, a 5.5L biturbo V8 will make 577 horsepower. In the SL65, 621 horsepower is achieved with a 6.0L V12. Both models will use AMG SPEEDSHIFT 7-speed transmissions. The SPEEDSHIFT PLUS 7G-TRONIC is reserved for the SL65, but even the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed in the SL63 can shift faster than you can blink.
