Mercedes-Benz is synonymous with luxury and performance. Even without AMG®, Maybach, or BRABUS, the German company makes the fastest production cars in the world.

Which Mercedes-Benz Vehicle Is Quickest?

Not surprisingly, the fastest Mercedes-Benz vehicle, not including AMG® or Maybach, is the Mercedes-Benz flagship vehicle, the S-Class S600.

Engine, Horsepower, Torque

The 2017 Mercedes-Benz S600 is a luxury car first and foremost, but it is the only Mercedes-Benz vehicle to come with a V12 engine separate from an AMG® badge. This 6.0L biturbo V12 sends 523 horsepower and 612 lb-ft of torque to all four wheels. It is not an AMG® engine, meaning it is not hand-built part for part, but it is the same size as the AMG® variant and uses many of the same tricks to produce unprecedented power.

0 – 60 Acceleration

The power under the hood gives the S600 its drive, but a common argument is that the S600 weighs too much to even be considered a sports car. Although this is true in some aspect, the S600 performs when you need it to. From a dead stop, the 2017 Mercedes-Benz S600 can accelerate to 60 miles per hour in just 4.5 seconds. This is less than one second slower than the 2017 GT R, coming from a 5,082-pound car.

Efficiency

Here is the kicker. You would expect the S600 to be the worst car in the fleet for gas, right? Well, that much is true. Compared to other Mercedes-Benz vehicles, the S-Class does not get the best gas mileage, but it does get 13 miles per gallon in the city and 22 on the highway, which is unheard of for a 500+-horsepower vehicle of any kind.
