Will Mercedes-Benz AMG Make a Hybrid Supercar?

Mercedes-Benz AMG Hybrid

In an effort to reduce our environmental impact on the world, auto manufacturers are creating more and more fuel efficient cars. Turbochargers are becoming increasingly common, and hybrid and electric vehicles are popping up all over the place. Mercedes-AMG has recently announced plans to implement a hybrid model into its lineup by 2020. This is still a ways away, but it comes as a surprise because AMG is a performance based company. What exactly would a Mercedes-Benz AMG hybrid be?

Most Mercedes-Benz models have a high-performance cousin made by AMG. AMG is the performance division of Mercedes-Benz. These three letters are usually associated with 500 horsepower, race-track victories, and six-figure sales prices. They are worth every penny though because there is no supplement for luxury and power.

Growing environmental concerns have pushed Europe into a panic that is leading to strict requirements for automobile manufacturers. This is something that is done in America also, but new regulations in Europe are what gave AMG the idea for a Mercedes-Benz AMG Hybrid.

When you hear the term hybrid, the first thing that probably comes to mind is a Toyota Prius. Did you cringe? Us too. Fortunately for car lovers, A hybrid from AMG would be nothing like that. Hybrid, in this case, would mean using electricity alongside a combustion engine without sacrificing performance around a track. So, basically think of the 2016 E-Class AMG with better gas mileage. Now it’s starting to sound pretty good, isn’t it?

The potential Mercedes-Benz AMG Hybrid would almost certainly have some kind of BLUETEC implementation because it has proven to be a very successful selling-point for Mercedes-Benz. BLUETEC Mercedes-Benz vehicles are diesel powered and turbocharged. They work together with regenerative brakes and a large battery.
