Keyless entry and push-to-start technologies have been around for a long time. It is derived from a simple concept; keep your keys in your pocket when using your car. But how does it work exactly? How do you know you are getting the most out of your Mercedes-Benz KEYLESS GO feature? As it turns out, there is more to it than just depressing the brake to start the engine.
KEYLESS GO is a Mercedes-Benz patent that uses Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology to allow drivers to operate their cars without a traditional key. Most people know that the vehicle won’t turn on without having the key in close proximity, and most people know that the brake needs to be applied before the engine will start, but what many people don’t know is that the push-to-start button can be removed and the car can be started normally with a physical key. Or that the windows can be opened or closed from the outside of the car without pressing any buttons.

In case of emergencies or valet parking needs, the push-to-start button in your Mercedes-Benz can actually be removed very easily. Simply pull it straight out and the button will pop out of the ignition. Hidden underneath is a slot for a smart key. If you can’t trust a driver with your key fob or you simply don’t like the push-to-start feature, you can do this as an alternative.
When you exit your car, you can lock it by simply putting your finger on the door-lock sensor. If you forgot to close your windows or sunroof, keep your finger on the sensor until they are all completely closed. It’s like magic, right?
