Mercedes-Benz to Unveil 2019 G-Class at Detroit Auto Show

What to Expect From the New Mercedes-Benz G-Class

New for 2019, the Mercedes-Benz G-Class is primed to offer a better wagon for off-road driving. The G-Class will offer 100-percent differential locks with LOW RANGE off-road ratio thanks to an independent suspension with an updated front and rear axle. This will provide drivers with improved ground clearance. The off-road capabilities will surpass previous model years of the popular wagon.

The G-Class wagon will offer a new off-road technology for 2019: “G-Mode.” G-Mode is automatically engaged once one of the three differential locks is triggered or LOW RANGE mode is engaged. G-Mode works to optimize off-road driving by avoiding any unnecessary gearshifts, as well as dampening both the chassis and the steering, giving drivers a more smooth and capable drive when off-road that includes improved slope climbing ability, increased water fording depth, better breakover angles and so much more!

Additionally, the new G-Class will feature a new 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission. The automatic transmission features a torque converter that is optimized for off-road driving, making driving more comfortable, efficient and quiet. This new transmission is built to thrive at lower speeds, ensuring maximum traction.

Other impressive features of the upcoming 2019 Mercedes-Benz G-Class include multiple cameras, including a 360-degree camera that offers an HD display, giving drivers the clearest and most complete view of any and all obstacles around the wagon.
