The 2017 GLS release date is approaching, and with it are some new features that push Mercedes-Benz further ahead of the competition. One of these technologies in particular is the 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class MAGIC VISION CONTROL. It sounds like something out of a children’s cartoon, but it is actually very real and it is absolutely genius.

When you think about a luxury vehicle, your mind doesn’t jump to windshield wipers. In fact, if you’re like us, you probably never think about your windshield wipers. Yet somehow, the windshield wiper keeps getting improved. Now we finally know why. We imagine someone in a Mercedes-Benz facility watched a windshield wiper go back and forth for weeks or months before it hit him; MAGIC VISION CONTROL.
It’s not actually as ridiculous as we make it sound. Basically, instead of the windshield wiper fluid coming out of two holes in the hood, it comes directly out of the windshield wiper itself. It doesn’t just use two holes either. It uses about a hundred spouts lined all the way up the wiper. This removes the splashes of water that temporarily disrupt your view. It also operates semi-autonomously, basically cleaning your windshield for you whenever it needs it.

The 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class comes with the option of MAGIC VISION CONTROL. Although we don’t really understand how it knows when the windshield is dirty, we can’t wait to see what’s next for the windshield wiper at Mercedes-Benz.
