This eclipse is special because it falls on the same night as a full moon. This makes the moon appear huge in the sky and makes it not only easier, but more entertaining to see in lunar eclipse form. Unlike a solar eclipse, a lunar eclipse is safe to view without eye protection or fancy homemade redirection scopes. Just tilt your head up about forty degrees, then rotate 360 degrees in a circle. If you don’t see it, repeat. If you have a telescope or even binoculars, we highly recommend using them because it will greatly enhance the experience.
