3 Really Weird Mercedes-Benz Models You’ve Never Heard Of

Strangest Mercedes vehicles ever made

We love Mercedes-Benz vehicles here at Mercedes-Benz of Scottsdale, AZ. Shocking, right? Joking aside, we really do respect the Mercedes-Benz brand. It has produced countless classics over the years, each with its own rich history and ornate craftsmanship. However, not every Mercedes-Benz vehicle was available for purchase or saw the light of day. And those are the kind of vehicles that make us really curious. Here are some of the strangest Mercedes-Benz vehicles ever made – take a look!

The Blue Wonder

The Mercedes-Benz racing car high-speed transporter, colloquially called the Blue Wonder, was essentially a transport truck for race cars in the 1950s. It was built exclusively to quickly transport Mercedes-Benz race cars to the racetrack. It has a top speed of 105 mph, which is still as impressive today as it was back then.

150 Sports Saloon

Given the designation W 30, the 1934 Mercedes-Benz 150 sports saloon was built for the “2,000 kilometres through Germany” racing event. It’s notable for its power output of about 54 horsepower (which was a lot for its time) and its mid-engine configuration, something that became a mainstay for exotic vehicles and F1 race cars.

T 80 Record Car

The 1939 Mercedes-Benz T 80 record car intended to break the 650 km/h (400 mph) land speed record. It was powered by a 44.5-liter 12-cylinder aircraft engine that produced around 3,450 horsepower. Unfortunately, due to the outbreak of World War II, the T 80 never got to set that record.
