Mercedes-Maybach has been keeping us on our toes all year long. We are still dealing with the excellence of the Mercedes-Maybach Vision 6 that was unveiled in August, and now we have another all-new model to get excited about. It’s the 2018 Mercedes-Maybach S650 Cabriolet. Unlike the Vision 6, the S650 Cabriolet will go into production and be sold to people just like you. What it WILL have in common with the Vision 6, however, is the enormous power specifications.
2018 Mercedes-AMG GT C Roadster
This is a phrase that has never been said before. Of course, there were Maybach Convertibles back in the 1910s, and there have been a few Mercedes-Maybach limousines with fully retractable roofs, but nothing like this.
Under the hood, there is a 99.9% chance we are dealing with the 6.0L V12 biturbo engine that Mercedes-Benz so generously gave to the world in vehicles such as the Mercedes-AMG S65, Mercedes-AMG SL65, and the Mercedes-AMG G65. This engine makes 523 horsepower and 612 lb-ft of torque. Because this new model will feature a 650 in the name, we can expect even more power than the S600. The only problem is, we don’t know exactly how much or how.
To help the S650 climb above 523 horsepower and 612 lb-ft of torque, we expect up to four electric motors in the wheel wells. If this is the case, the S650 could be pushing 650 horsepower and potentially feature up to 800 lb-ft of torque.
