Brake – Visit Workshop Warning Instructions For Mercedes-Benz E-Class Drivers

What Does Brake-Visit Workshop Warning Message Mean In Mercedes-Benz?

The funny thing about cars is that you can own one for 10 years and still be just as surprised by the things it tells you as you are when you find a foreign object in one of the seats. One common message that trips up Mercedes-Benz drivers is the “Brake-Visit Workshop” warning. What does it mean and how do you fix it?
What is AMG RIDE CONTROL?

“Brake-Visit Workshop”

This is a fairly broad message. How can you stop and go to a workshop at the same time? All jokes aside, the message isn’t to be taken literally. It simply means there is a problem with the braking system in general and it should be addressed by a Mercedes-Benz technician. Most commonly, we see this message in the Mercedes-Benz E-Class.

Brake Switch

Most commonly, the message comes on when the brake switch fails due to loss of circuit continuity. The brake switch is simply a mechanism located on the back of the brake pedal that tells the car when the brakes are depressed. The brakes will still work fine because they are not dependent on electronics, but the car will get confused every time you want to stop.

DIY

Many do-it-yourselfers are offering advice on how to fix this problem on your own. This involves removing the panel below the steering wheel via three torx bolts, unhooking the old one on the back of the brake pedal arm, and connecting the new one. It is simple enough and is a very cheap part, but why risk breaking the plastic pieces on the foot panel of your new car? It is best to bring your car in to get checked. After all, the problem may not go away after replacing this part. So don’t waste your time! If you see a Brake-Visit Workshop message on your dashboard, come see us today!
