Many people watch the Super Bowl just for the commercials alone. It is for this reason that most brands put a lot of time and thought into their ad that will air during the big game. It is always exciting to see what the most popular Super Bowl ad will be. Today we’re going to take a look at the 2017 Mercedes-Benz Super Bowl commercial to see who’s in it, and what song is featured in it.
At the 2017 Super Bowl (aka Super Bowl LI), Mercedes-Benz will present a brand new ad featuring the AMG GT Roadster . They have already released quite a few teaser clips, images and the ad itself ahead of the big reveal during the fourth quarter of the game on Feb. 5, 2017. The commercial is about a biker gang who encounters the Mercedes-Benz AMG GT Roadster outside their favorite bar.
The commercial includes a song in the background that called “Born to be Wild” by Steppenwolf. This song is the perfect pair with this wild ad with lyrics like “get your motor runnin’, head on the highway looking for adventure”. You might recognize the driver of the Mercedes-Benz AMG GT Roadster as Peter Fonda from Easy Rider. He is the perfect addition to this exciting commercial. Another interesting fact about this ad is that is was directed by the Coen Brothers (Joel and Ethan Coen), most known for films like Fargo, The Big Lebowski, No Country for Old Men, A Serious Man, True Grit and Inside Llewyn Davis.
