Customers are often baffled over which vehicle to choose, the Mercedes-Benz GLC or the Mercedes-Benz G-Class. Hence, Mercedes-Benz of Scottsdale in Scottsdale, AZ, answers the question what’s the difference between the GLC and the G-Class.
The Mercedes-Benz GLC is a compact luxury crossover SUV that was introduced in the year 2015 replacing the GLK. The model was officially released on the road in 2016.
Mercedes-Benz uses a unique naming scheme for its vehicles. This vehicle is named GLC, wherein the ‘G’ refers to Geländewagen, which is German for off-road vehicle; the ‘L’ acts as a linkage with the letter ‘C’, which signifies that the SUV is equivalent to the C-Class.
The production site of the GLC was initially at Bremen, but considering the factory was running at full production, Mercedes-Benz shifted the GLC production to a plant in Finland in the year 2017.
The GLC is a 5-seater and has a 5-door body style paired with multiple engine options. It offers three petrol and diesel engines each, and a plug-in hybrid model as well.
The specifications of these engines include a 2L four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine and a 2.2L 4-cylinder turbo-diesel engine. The GLC also has a cargo space of 20.5 cubic feet.
