There are many fascinating aspects about the Mercedes-Benz G-Class that keep us up at night. Wearing many different masks, The G-Class can tow 7,000 pounds, get 29 miles to the gallon, jump from zero to 60 in 5.2 seconds with 738 lb-ft of torque… it can even remember the 1970s. We think it is safe to say that the G-Class is the only vehicle on Earth that can make all of these claims at the same time and we encourage you to challenge us, but we digress. You are actually here to find out where the Mercedes-Benz G-Class is made.
The Convertible G-Class Might Return!
The Mercedes-Benz G-Class is hand-built in Graz, Austria at Magna Steyr Automobile Company where it has been done since the introduction of the G-Class in 1979.
In 2016, a record of 20,000 G-Class SUVs rolled off the production line in Graz, Austria with production numbers on the rise.
The first G-Class was introduced to the public 37 years ago as the Mercedes-Benz G Wagon. Since that time, more than 250,000 G-Class models have said hello to the world. Each one of them has come from the same factory, Magna Steyr Automobile Company. How cool is that? The G-Class has come a long way in the last 40 years. It now has more horsepower than 620 horses, but it is still made by hand with love in the same place it has called home since birth. Today we salute you, Magna Steyr. To forty more years!
