Even if it won’t admit it, the Mercedes-Benz SL-Class is old. It was born in 1954, just after the end of the Korean War, which will make it 63 years old on the day of the 2017 release. To keep up with all the young vehicles on the road today, it is now showing off its new facelift, and we must say that it looks pretty good. The changes are subtle, yet bold, bringing it back to its muscular roots and taunting drivers around the world. If you haven’t seen it yet, take a look at the 2017 Mercedes-Benz SL facelift to see for yourself. What do you think? Does it live up to the legendary reputation that is the SL-Class.

This redesign puts the SL in its seventh generation, which is definitely something to be proud of. In all of its years on the road, it has produced nearly a million smiling drivers and even more envious pedestrians, and with the new facelift, it appears it will keep this drive alive as it pushes its way even further into the history books.
According to Mercedes-Benz, the inspiration for the new grille came from the iconic 300SL race car with the gullwing doors from the 1950s. We can definitely see the resemblance. In fact, when you look at it that way, it sort of looks like the Mercedes-AMG GT S, which makes the SL more exciting in our opinion.

One of the biggest changes to the exterior of the SL-Class is the extended grille below the license plate. It seems to stretch out wider, offering a more muscular look and better airflow. It also has new LED headlights that extend farther to the outside of the roadster, but the most obvious change is the hood. It features more curves that, when paired with the new Brilliant Blue color, sort of look like waves.
The 2017 Mercedes-Benz SL facelift is barely the surface of what makes the new roadster worthwhile, so stay tuned for more SL-Class excitement as we break through the surface. Do you think the 2017 SL outshines the 2016 or did Mercedes-Benz drop the ball? We think they hit the nail on the head and we look forward to 63 more years of the SL-Class!
