This means the smart fourfour will not be available stateside for at least another year. The fortwo model, however, will begin arriving at United States dealerships in the spring of 2017.

The smart fortwo uses a water-cooled AC motor to be 100% emission free. Although it is best used in the city, it can accelerate all the way to 78 miles per, a comfortable highway speed. It has the equivalent of 74 horsepower and 96 lb-ft of torque, which is more than enough to get you around town.

Charge Time And Battery Range

With a dead battery, the smart fortwo electric drive charges in 6 hours. This time can be cut in half, however, with the purchase of a 240-volt charging station, which would be installed in your garage. Once full, the smart fortwo coupe can travel 76 city miles or 59 highway miles. If you are commuting to work every day, the smart fortwo is a great opportunity to save money.
