The shelf bag for the SL-Class is made out of Napa calf leather and nylon, which is the same material used in the SL-Class seats themselves. It is custom-designed to fit snugly in the space behind the seats without blocking the view of the rear window. It looks similar to a suitcase, but instead of featuring one large zipper, it has a smaller one on each side, making the pockets more easily and quickly accessible to the driver and passenger. It also has interior zip pockets, for more delicate items.

SL-Class Bag Installation and Removal

When the bag is in the car, it looks like it is a piece of the car. There are two straps already on the shelf that come over the top of the bag and tighten it down. Taking it out is as simple as loosening these straps and pulling it out.
