How to Remove Odors from Your Car

What to Do If Your Car Smells Bad?

A car that smells fresh is inviting and welcoming. On the other hand, a vehicle that smells bad is a huge turn-off. Once you identify the source of the smell, it becomes easier to get rid of it. Nobody likes being in a car with a strange, lingering odor. Here, in this blog by the Mercedes-Benz of Scottsdale dealership in Scottsdale, AZ, we present tips on removing car smells and getting it back to smelling good and new.

5 Tips for Getting Rid of Bad Car Odors

  • Vacuum every nook and corner of your car. A lot of times, vacuuming can eliminate these smells. If vacuuming does not work, you can go for steam cleaning. It will take the smells out, even from the little places.
  • Baking soda is beneficial for removing odors. Sprinkle some baking soda in the interiors of your car and leave it for a few hours. The soda will absorb any free smells. Charcoal is another strong absorbent of solid scents. Grab a chunk of charcoal and leave it in the car for a few days. Soon, the smell will go away.
  • Use natural air freshener. You can put some cotton balls soaked in vanilla or a container of ground coffee in the car. Mint extracts or citrus oils are alternatives you can use as a natural air freshener to keep your car smelling fresh.’
  • Some smells can be extremely dangerous. For example, the gas smell inside your car can indicate leakage. If that happens, take your vehicle to the nearby service center and get it fixed as soon as possible.
  • If none of these remedies work, take your car to a cleaning professional.

These tips will help combat all kinds of car odors.
