2017 Mercedes-Benz S-Class vs 2017 Maserati Quattroporte

When it comes to luxury sedans, there are no two that are identical. Economy cars often look the same and have the same ubiquitous features that keep costs down, but that all changes when the price tag closes in on six figures. If you are in the market for a new full-size luxury sedan, read on to find out why the 2017 Mercedes-Benz S-Class is a much better investment than the 2017 Maserati Quattroporte on almost every level a vehicle can be measured.

This may be the exact opposite of what you were expecting from a comparison against a Maserati, but it is true. The do have some similarities, one of which being size. The are less than an inch apart in almost every exterior dimension, even though Maserati measure it's vehicles in millimeters. The other close similarity is the advanced interior feature list available for both vehicles. From driver-assistance technologies to the unbelievably comfortable back seats, there are few other vehicles that match the S-Class and the Quattroporte for overall luxury

Mercedes-Benz AMG® Performance

Aside from exterior dimensions and interior features, the S-Class and the Quattroporte are from different worlds. Actually their headquarters are only about 7 hours away from each other, but this is a distance that the S-Class can travel in much less time than the Quattroporte thanks to the Mercedes-Benz AMG® inspiration in the S-Class.

For this comparison, we are only looking at the entry-level base models, but the S-Class still comes with a 100-horsepower surplus over the Italian icon. Granted, the S-Class weighs a few hundred pounds more than the Quattroporte, but this extra power gets the S 550 from 0-60 in just 4.8 seconds. The Maserati takes 5.5 seconds to accomplish the same acceleration, meaning the extra weight of the S-Class is not a hindrance for Mercedes-Benz drivers.

Really the only thing to be enjoyed more about the Quattroporte is the look. If you are looking for something sporty, the luxurious, elite, S-Class might be a little to boring for you...until you get behind the wheel.
