Mercedes-Benz AMG® Performance

Aside from exterior dimensions and interior features, the S-Class and the Quattroporte are from different worlds. Actually their headquarters are only about 7 hours away from each other, but this is a distance that the S-Class can travel in much less time than the Quattroporte thanks to the Mercedes-Benz AMG® inspiration in the S-Class.  

For this comparison, we are only looking at the entry-level base models, but the S-Class still comes with a 100-horsepower surplus over the Italian icon. Granted, the S-Class weighs a few hundred pounds more than the Quattroporte, but this extra power gets the S 550 from 0-60 in just 4.8 seconds. The Maserati takes 5.5 seconds to accomplish the same acceleration, meaning the extra weight of the S-Class is not a hindrance for Mercedes-Benz drivers. 

Really the only thing to be enjoyed more about the Quattroporte is the look.
