Mercedes-Benz vehicles often set standards in all areas from performance to styling that other vehicles eventually follow—and safety systems are no exception. From the invention of crumple zones to the development of the exclusive PRESAFE® occupant-protection system, the safety firsts of Mercedes-Benz engineers have set the standard for vehicles for more than half a century.
Mercedes-Benz engineers continue a proven devotion to preparing for a moment they hope never occurs with exclusive new systems and driver-assists. True to their heritage, today’s Mercedes-Benz vehicles are equipped to protect you and your family in ways you might have never thought possible.
Mercedes-Benz safety systems are designed to help make accidents less damaging, less severe, and much less likely. Discover what these crucial, potentially life-saving features are capable of with the videos below. An exclusive occupant protection system, PRE-SAFE® can sense a collision before it happens and prepare occupants in the moments leading up to it. The system uses a network of sensors to detect certain driving characteristics that suggest an accident is about to occur like extreme skidding. Once a collision might be imminent, the system adjusts the front head restraints, tightens the front seatbelts, and closes the windows and sunroof to increase the effectiveness of the restraint systems.
Available on: C-Class, E-Class, S-Class, CLS, GLC, GLE, and GLS
An industry-first safety system that senses driver fatigue, ATTENTION ASSIST monitors over 70 parameters in the beginning of a drive to learn the driver’s unique driving style. The system can then detect steering corrections that suggest possible driver fatigue and, after considering other key factors from crosswinds to how often the driver interacts with the vehicle’s controls, ATTENTION ASSIST will sound can alert encouraging the driver to stop and rest.

The Active Blind Spot Assist and Active Lane Keeping Assist systems are designed to alert drivers to possible danger in all directions. Blind Spot Assist uses radar sensors to detect vehicles to the side and alerts the driver with a red icon in the side mirror and, if the driver signals a lane change, an alert. Lane Keeping Assist uses a camera to monitor the markings on the road and vibrates the steering wheel if the vehicle drifts out of its intended lane. Both systems can apply the brakes on one side to guide the vehicle back to safety.

Never struggle to park your vehicle again with Active Parking Assist. This driver-assistance system uses cameras and radar sensors to identify a suitable parking space and automatically steer the vehicle into it at the press of a button. The only thing required of the driver is to operate the accelerator and brake pedal.
An anticipatory driver-assistance system, Collision Prevention Assist works with other driver-assists to reduce the risk of a rear-end collision or, if a collision is unavoidable—considerably mitigate its damage. The system utilizes braking assistance, a radar-supported distance warning feature, and autonomous partial application of the brakes.
