2017 Mercedes-AMG C43 Coupe Preview

2017 Mercedes-AMG C43 Coupe Release Date

We would like to introduce you to the 2017 Mercedes-AMG C43 Coupe. It is new to the C-Class Coupe lineup, although it did already exist as a sedan. The 2016 Mercedes-Benz C450 AMG sedan uses the same engine and will likely be renamed for 2017 as the Mercedes-AMG C43 as well. The 2017 Mercedes-AMG C43 coupe release date is scheduled for Fall of 2016 in the United States.

The C43 is not the flagship C-Class, but it does offer basically the same performance as the C63 with a more efficient engine. At 362 horsepower, the C43 will launch to 60 miles per hour in just 4.6 seconds. Currently, it takes the C63 AMG Coupe 4.4 seconds to do the same thing with 451 horsepower. This is why many drivers choose the 3.0L biturbo V6 in the C43 over the 6.3L V8 in the C63. Both cars are limited at a top speed of 155 anyway, so the C43 gives customers a chance to save some money (roughly $15,000), and still enjoy the thrill of AMG.

Engine

The engine in the C43 Coupe is not a new one. The 3.0L biturbo V6 can be found in such Mercedes-Benz vehicles as the C-Class Sedan, E-Class, CLS, GLE, and will probably pop up in the GLC very soon. In this application, it puts out 362 horsepower and 384 lb-ft torque.

Transmission

The 7-speed SPEEDSHIFT transmission is being replaced with the 9G-TRONIC 9-speed automatic transmission that you will find in the GLC and the SLC. This transmission seems to be the secret as to how Mercedes-Benz is significantly lowering 0-60 times while also decreasing horsepower.
