New Features of the 2017 Mercedes-AMG E43 Sedan

2017 Mercedes-AMG E43 Changes

The Mercedes-Benz E-Class is a top-tier sedan, coupe, or cabriolet. To Mercedes-Benz, that means it must provide excessive performance, cloud comfort, and class-leading efficiency all at the same time. Some people call it overkill, but those familiar with Mercedes-Benz culture know that the 2017 Mercedes-AMG E43 changes everything we thought we knew about luxury and performance.

Engine

The first major change from the 2016 E400 to the 2017 E43 is the engine. The size didn’t change, nor did the number of turbos. What did change is the number everyone cares about. As long as it has more power, it’s better right? Not really, but Mercedes-Benz is wise and willing to play along because it knows how to manipulate performance better than any other brand. How does it do it? By making technology smarter and hardware stronger.

Transmission

Replacing the 7G-TRONIC transmission that made a name for itself in the E-Class is the 9G-TRONIC 9-speed automatic transmission. This nine-gear rig debuted in the 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLC and has since proven itself in the C-Class and the CLA. With this transmission, the car will jump from 0 to 60 in just 4.5 seconds, which is more than a full second faster than the 2016 Mercedes-Benz E400.

4MATIC

The new E-Class will come as 4MATIC only, but the split between the front and back wheel will be 31 to 69 percent, meaning the back wheels will carry the majority of the load. This makes the E-Class handle more like a rear-wheel drive car, further adding to the driver experience. Additionally, the new 4MATIC is lighter than previous versions paired with the 7G-TRONIC transmission. If you can’t decide between luxury and performance, the new 2017 Mercedes-AMG E43 will definitely solve that problem by giving you both.
