Automakers like Mercedes-Benz go to painstaking lengths to make sure that you can safely charge your electric vehicle while it’s raining outside. Many countries, including the US, have strict safety regulations in place regarding EV charging in bad weather, such as rain, snow, sandstorms, and so on. Charging cables are designed in such a way that makes the connection watertight and insulated. You can safely plug-in your car at a public charging station without fear of bad weather or being electrocuted.

For many people, the sticking point for EVs is how long it will take to charge. Here’s a general guide to the types of chargers and average time ranges for how long each type usually takes to charge.

  • Level 2 (240V Household Outlet) – 0-100% charge in 6-9 hours
  • Level 1 (120V Household Outlet) – 0-100% charge in 20-40 hours
